Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Kafeel Ahmad Ansari | Botany | Outstanding Scientist Award

Associate Professor | University of Guyana | Guyana

Dr. Mohammad Kafeel A. Ansari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Guyana and Visiting Research Fellow at INTI International University, Malaysia, with extensive academic and research experience across multiple continents including Asia, Australia, and South America. He has been recognized with several prestigious fellowships and awards such as the Australian Endeavour Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, Foreign Citizens Research Scientist Fellowship from the Government of Turkey, and Dr. D. S. Kothari Research Fellowship from the Government of India, and has also served as Australian Awards Ambassador for higher education institutions. His expertise covers diverse fields including plant stress physiology, phytoremediation, environmental and industrial biotechnology, microbial genetics, molecular biology, cyanobacterial biotechnology, environmental microbiology, and medicinal botany. His notable research contributions include the development of stress-tolerant plants, modulation of antioxidant defense systems, phytoremediation of heavy metals, bioremediation of toxic dyes, dye decolorization through cyanobacteria, nanoparticle biosynthesis, and ecosystem restoration. He has published widely in leading peer-reviewed international journals, presented at global scientific conferences, and actively participated in editorial boards, scientific committees, and collaborative research networks with institutions in countries such as Australia, India, Turkey, the USA, the UK, Italy, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. With more than sixteen years of teaching and research experience, he has taught and supervised undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, developed curricula, coordinated academic programs, and contributed to university governance through research advisory boards and academic councils. His research impact is evidenced by 270 citations from 204 documents, 17 publications, and an h-index of 8. His ongoing projects involve biomass feedstock for clean energy, phytoremediation of mercury-contaminated environments, laccase enzyme applications, and screening of stress-tolerant crops, positioning him as a globally recognized scholar in plant sciences, biotechnology, and sustainable ecosystem management.
