Dr. Chitra S embarked on her academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology from Emerald Heights College for Women, Ooty, under Bharathiar University. Excelling in her undergraduate studies, she graduated with First Class Distinction, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors in the field of biomaterials science. She pursued her passion for nanoscience and nanotechnology, completing her Master of Science degree from the National Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Madras, Chennai. Her outstanding academic performance earned her the distinction of being a Gold Medalist in her class.

Professional Endeavors

She continued her academic pursuit by undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Madras. Her doctoral research, supervised by Prof. S. Balakumar, focused on "Cognizing Nano-Structured Bioactive Glass for Hemostatic, Orthopedic, and Endodontic Applications." Her research contributed significantly to the field of nano-biomaterials, exploring applications in biomedicine. During her academic journey, she served as a Senior Research Fellow (JRF & SRF) at the National Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, University of Madras, where she worked on the project titled "Development of 45S5 Bioglass systems towards bone tissue engineering applications," funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Inspire Fellowship.
