Mariam Emad El Din Fawzy Gamal embarked on her academic journey with a strong foundation in the sciences. Graduating with a B.Sc. in Chemistry-Zoology from Cairo University in 2002, she demonstrated exceptional aptitude and dedication, earning a grade of "Very Good." She continued to pursue her passion for environmental science through postgraduate studies, completing her M.Sc. in Zoology at Helwan University in 2007 with a thesis on "Bioremediation of Saline Wastewater." This laid the groundwork for her Ph.D. research at Ain-Shams University, where she delved into the development of an "Integrated Biological System for Domestic Wastewater Treatment in Small Communities," successfully earning her doctoral degree in 2013.

Beginning as an Assistant Researcher at the Water Pollution Research Department of the National Research Centre (NRC) in Cairo in 2003, she steadily rose through the ranks, serving as an Associate Researcher before assuming her current role as Associate Professor in 2019.
